Skillz Academy is seeking a driven and personable individual to conduct comprehensive instructor-led sales training to a cohort of adults with no current or prior tech sales experience and to work with subject matter experts in procuring training materials and enhancing the company’s existing curriculum. You will be a core member of our growing team and will help develop the company’s brand as the leading source of diverse talent for business oriented tech jobs in the United States. 


Who We Are

Skillz Academy is the training arm of Upriver Solutions, a Job Tech company that is focused on recruiting, training and placing diverse candidates from underrepresented backgrounds in business oriented tech jobs. We like to think of ourselves as focused on the “business of tech” as opposed to the “science of tech” and as a result you won’t find any coders, engineers  or developers in our classes – all of our programs focus on the business side of tech. Our first program is an intensive, software sales training bootcamp that is specifically designed to make it easy for people from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds including women, minorities, and/or those from low income communities to gain an onramp to high paying jobs in tech. 



  • Collaborate with the Lead Instructor to modify and improve our existing curriculum based on program results, trainee feedback, and a redesign to hybrid and remote learning 
  • Work with the Curriculum Designer to redesign our current in-person curriculum to be delivered in three different modalities: in-person, hybrid, and remote 
  • Lead training sessions to train and develop novice tech sales professionals
  • Coordinate trainee enrollment, timelines, schedules and supplies to ensure completion of training
  • Utilize adult learning principles to provide appropriate and comprehensive explanations, examples, and demonstrations to effectively educate trainees
  • Evaluate performance of trainees to ensure that they are learning and retaining lessons
  • Perform recordkeeping duties associated with the classroom including attendance, grades, and behavior
  • Facilitate both in-person and web based learning opportunities for trainees
  • Prepare specialized instructional materials to reinforce classroom material and provide extra instructional support to small groups
  • Provide feedback and coaching to support individual trainees
  • Prepare classroom equipment and instructional materials for sessions
  • Special projects as assigned



Position Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as an instructor, public speaker, educator, professor, or related role
  • Proven experience as a current or former salesperson
  • Familiarity with a range of e-learning and web based platforms
  • Strong MS Office/Google Drive skills, particularly Google Slides 
  • Interest in and passion for adult education
  • A demonstrated commitment to making the world a better place exemplified through volunteering, past work experience, and/or familiarity with theories of economic empowerment and social justice

The Instructor role is a full time position compensated with a combination of salary, benefits, and equity.
